How to help the people of Ukraine

By Ryan Bergeron, CNN

(CNN) Russian bombardments and fighting continue throughout Ukraine sending people fleeing for safety. According to the UN, more than half a million refugees from Ukraine have crossed into the neighboring countries of Poland, Slovakia and Romania. The rush of people trying to leave has led to hours-long lines at some of these borders.

The Russian invasion has sparked a need for humanitarian aid. Inside Ukraine, long lines formed outside grocery stores as people waited to buy food, and there are reports of supply shortages. Organizations are on the ground in Ukraine and neighboring countries to help with shelter, food, water and additional aid.
